I've had the fortune of being a father for over 11 years, and have learned some things along the way.
1. Tell your kids you love them, daily.
2. Always be the best person you can be around them.
3. Don’t be an asshole. The world has many incompetent, selfish fathers. Be better. Be a Dad.
4. Teach them to respect, and never objectify, all women.
5. Teach them to throw a baseball properly. This cannot be understated.
6. Never be afraid to express your faith at any time, in any place.
7. Live your life with authenticity and purpose around your kids. They are watching you, always, and what they become will be a mirror of what you were to them.
8. Everyone is busy. Don’t make that a lame excuse to not spend time with them.
9. Monitor their television and internet viewing. Don’t be that moron parent that has a seven year old wearing a South Park t-shirt.
10. Never feel the need to argue with anyone under 10 years of age.
11. Exercise humility and patience always.
12. Listen.
